How Drislide Works

Posted by Norm Musgrove on February 08, 2013 (0 Comments)

Drislide Multi-Purpose Lubricants are a very thin liquid, made up of mostly mineral spirits as the carrier for molybdenum Disulfide (Moly).

The Moly settles at the bottom of the container and needs agitated or shaken up, before you apply the drislide. Once the moly is agitated and now suspended in the mineral spirits, the mineral spirits carries the moly across the application (metal service). The mineral spirits will evaporate in 10-15 minutes, leaving behind a nice thin layer of dry moly film, that has bonded to the metal service and will stay there to lubricant longer then other lubricants. And the best part about the drislide is that it will not collect dust, dirt or other airborne particles, and it repels moisture.

Once applied and the mineral spirits evaporate, the moly film withstand 100,000 psi and a temperature range of -20°F up to 1000°F.

Needle Value

Posted by Norm Musgrove on February 08, 2013 (0 Comments)

Once the needle applicator has been applied to the top of the 4oz spout-top bottle, you will be able to apply, just a drip of drislide, to the smallest of applications. The needle applicator also comes in very handy to lubricant cables on motorcycles, bicycles, ATV's and any other equipment that has cables, whether in a cable sleeve or exposed.

The way the needle is designed (very thin), you are able to place the tip of that needle, in the opening of the cable sleeve. Then you squeeze the bottle just enough, to allow the drislide to work its way down the inside of the cable sleeve by way of gravity. Lubricating the cable to the point of preventing freeze-up or snapping, rust & corrosion. Extending the life of the cable.

We were also told that because of the needle applicator, it saves a half an hour down-time for motorcycle maintenance shops, all across the country.

Fragile Needle

Posted by Norm Musgrove on February 08, 2013 (0 Comments)

The Drislide Needle Applicator is very Fragile. Made of a very thin steel stem, crimped to a base or hub, to self-thread the needle applicator onto the top of our 4oz plastic spout top bottles. Damaging these needles may include denting, bending and breaking. (Replacement needles available on website).

Needle may also clog. This happens when the rubber tip is left off the top of the needle too long. Rubber tip provided with every needle. The rubber tip must be on the tip of the needle when not in use. If the rubber tip is left off the top of the needle too long, air gets down in the needle, drying up the moly inside the needle. Then you have a moly clog. Suggestion on unclogging the needle: allow to soak overnight in mineral spirits, possibly a degreaser, or maybe a parts cleaner. Not sure if soapy water will help. After an overnight soaking, if available, blow air through the needle to clear. If air compresser isn't available, maybe the use of an office air-duster can, you could purchase at a Staples or an Office Supply store.

4oz bottle

The Moly settles at the bottom of the container and needs agitated or shaken up, before you apply the drislide. Once the moly is agitated or shaken up, there is a little pressure build-up in the container. When opening the 4oz plastic spout-top bottle, you must be careful and open slowly to prevent the flip top from popping open and spiting drislide all over.
